Fixing Prisons

Right at this very moment, I’m watching something or other on the National Geographic Channel about Pelican Bay, some prison in California I think, and it got me thinking: how can we fix prisons? I mean, they’re broken, right?  There’s rampant crime in the prisons, prisoners get out well before they should, and when they get out, most of them commit more crimes.

So, what can be done about it?  Well, I don’t really know.  Wierd, huh?  I go through all this trouble to write about fixing prisons, and I don’t have the answer.  But I do have a suggestion, that I think would help.  Two suggestions, actually.  Possibly three.  The first, is stop being a wus about punishment.  If you killed someone (not the manslaughter type, the premeditated sort), you deserve the death penalty.  Second, there need to be more Judges, more DA’s, more courtrooms to house these more’s, and thus reduce the time it takes to go through the appeals process, ext.  Third, prosecution for felonies within the prison, such as getting the death sentence for killing an inmate.
